The M&G Story: The Power of Family
In 1957, Josephine McDonnell, a young girl with her family, left the emerald hills of County Tipperary, Ireland and embraced the bustling City of Chicago. Fate intertwined her journey with a young man, Bob Meyer, a product of the hard-knock life in Chicago’s Back of the Yards. Their teenage encounter evolved into a marriage that birthed a family, and in 1984, the seeds of M&G were sown. The business didn’t just start; it rocketed into existence.
In 1988, Josephine’s tenacity earned M&G the Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) certification, opening doors to opportunities that echoed with Bob’s relentless spirit. As competitors stumbled in the wake of new technologies, M&G invested in the future, embracing change and expanding capabilities while adopting sustainable practices.
Today, Bob and Josephine’s children Bob Jr. and Angie continue driving M&G forward, with support from Angie’s husband John who has championed numerous high impact marketing innovations. Alongside them, Bob’s son Nolan and Angie’s daughter Ellen embody the legacy as the third generation. Staying true to Josephine’s bold vision, M&G proudly achieved certification as a new member of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), joyfully opening doors for the trailblazing women leaders of the future.
As M&G celebrates its 40th year in business in 2024, the family stands as a testament to perseverance. The loyalty of customers along with the dedication of employees has been the heartbeat of its success and the backbone of M&G’s strength and pride.
